Former ODP Player Receives 22/23 Gatorade Player of the Year Award


Max May, a former Florida ODP State Team (2005) player and South Region ODP Team player has received one of the highest honors in youth soccer. On June 16, 2023, Gatorade announced the 2022-2023 Gatorade State Boys Soccer Players of the Year. Since 1985, the Gatorade Player of the Year award has been established to recognize and celebrate the nation’s top high school athletes for their talents in athletic achievement, academic excellence, and exemplary character. Now in its third decade, the Gatorade Player of the Year award has become one of the most prestigious accolades in high school sports.

Max May has earned this award for his contributions at the high-school level this past season. According to MaxPreps, he has scored 20 goals and 22 assists to help his high school program (Viera High School) to win the program’s first-ever state championship. Just to finish his junior year, he has also earned the Class 6A State Player of the Year for the 2022/2023 season.
