Man U Legends Lead Session at 2023 AGM

ORLANDO, FL (AUGUST 3, 2022)Florida Youth Soccer Association (FYSA) and Veo are thrilled to bring Manchester United legends to the 2023 FYSA Annual General Meeting & Vendor Showcase as guest speakers. Read more about Mike Phelan and David Horrocks below.

 

Mike Phelan

Mike Phelan is a former Manchester United player, coach, and twice assistant manager with multiple FA Premier League titles, FA Cups, Football League Cups, a European Cup Winners Cup, a UEFA Champions League, and World Club Champions titles to his name. A business owner and Chairman, occasional TV pundit, and professional opinion media contributor, Mike will not disappoint. He is a vastly experienced and truly elite operator providing a wealth of experience.

Mike has coached players such as David Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Ruud Van Nistleroy, Carlos Tevez, Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes, Jadon Sancho, and Alejandro Garnacho. He has also acted as a sounding board and confidante for up-and-coming managers Michael Carrick, Keiran McKenna, and Nick Montgomery, respectively, and currently of Central Coast Mariners, Middlesborough, and Ipswich Town Football Clubs.

Phelan has also spent time throughout his career lecturing in higher education establishments, headlining conferences, consulting, and providing intel for blue chip and major corporate business and immersing himself throughout his career at institutions far beyond Manchester United.

His insatiable curiosity and growth mindset attitude has taken him to places such as Nike, WestpointMilitary Academy, Gulf Oil, Tag Heuer, EducityIskandar, and The League Managers Association, to name but a few. Mike has met Nelson Mandela twice and visited The Whitehouse. All part of a day’s work in a colorful and extensive career at the top of his profession amongst some of the world’s sharpest minds and premier leaders. Phelan also recently spent two days in conjunction with inspiring sports coaching the US Air Force Cadets along with off-field and multi-disciplinary team expert David Horrocks our second guest for this AGM.

 

David Horrocks

David Horrocks has also worked for Manchester United, as Head of Research and Development. This role harbored the responsibility for the future of the sport and, in particular, the multi-disciplinary teams (MDT) in tech, science, analytics, psychology, and coaching. In addition, David has also spent extended periods as a performance director in European, South African, and USPA tour golf.

David has traveled the globe in search of excellence within both the MDT and elite business operations, practices, and culture. He is also a published peer-reviewed scientist in talent development, elite performance, and serial winning. These academic works are specific to Manchester United Football Club's most successful period of Premier League dominance and European success.

Recent engagement involves collaboration and knowledge transfer with the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, The FA, The FA Premier League, Mercedes AMG Petronas, British Cycling, Red Bull, The London School of Contemporary Dance, The Professional Golfers Association, Ineos, Milwaukee Bucks, and leading military and government personnel.

David has also spent time in the college and higher education systems as a lecturer and spent the early part of his career in the technology industry, working with Cisco, Canon, and Avaya on behalf of clients in the NHS, Banking, and corporate sectors. An engaging speaker and consultant with a wide array of experience at the highest levels in business and sport.

 

David is also a UEFA B Licence coach and has played football in the professional environments at youth and reserve levels with Accrington Stanley, along with an extended county and national amateur level football career of some 25 years in both soccer and futsal.
