AUBURNDALE, FL (February 11, 2022) - The Florida Youth Soccer Association (FYSA) Coaching Education staff and U.S. Soccer Instructors wrapped up another great C-License field session this weekend in Fort Lauderdale. This 20-week blended course kicked off with a virtual session in early October, the first in-person field session at the Inter Miami CF fields in November, and the second in-person field session at Weston Regional Park.
"Coaching Education is so important for the development and growth of soccer here in the great state of Florida. As an organization, we register over 100,000 players annually, but for us to reach those numbers, we rely on changing our coaches' behaviors," said Mark Godwin, FYSA Associate Director of Coaching.
The U.S. Soccer Coaching License Pathway consists of a series of courses designed to meet the specific needs of a coach at every step of the way. U.S. Soccer believes education is a journey, and our goal is to provide the necessary tools, guidance, and mentorship a coach requires along their way.
Godwin elaborated, "[FYSA] reach[es] approximately 1,500 coaches with coaching education every year, but those numbers can impact close to 20,000 players. That is why coaching education plays a major role in not only the growth but also the development of all soccer. The impact is huge!"
FYSA looks to hold a total of 50-60 courses of varying levels, from the introductory and grassroots level up to the C-License, during 2022 across Florida. For more information on upcoming coaching courses in Florida, click here.
Currently, U.S. Soccer hosts all A & B-License Courses in various locations throughout the country. For more information on upcoming A & B-License courses, click here.

Additionally, a big thank you to 'Soccer Tom' Mulroy and Gabe Renteria at Weston Select for coordinating youth teams attending and the WRP fields for this course to help make it a success. We can only help support the soccer community with the support of the soccer community.
