AUBURNDALE, Florida (April 28, 2023)-- Florida is home to numerous youth soccer clubs located around the state. Each one is different from the next and has its own player pathway, developmental structure, pricing, and club culture.
While navigating the always-evolving youth soccer landscape, The Soccer Pit Youth Athletic Club- Cobras has grown something special in Immokalee, Florida.
The Cobras started in 2008 with 35 players with a mission to advance leadership, scholarship, and teamwork through a structured soccer program in their town. Over the years, The Soccer Pit has grown its program to just under 500 players for the 2022-2023 season, with 400 being a part of its "Friday Night Lights" program.
Immokalee's Friday Night Lights is a ten (10) week program each fall and spring open to players ages four to fifteen (4-15) to provide a place to practice and play small-sided games as an introduction to soccer for younger players and an opportunity to enhance technique and speed of play for older players.
With support from local businesses, the club offering scholarship opportunities, and parents, coaches & referees volunteering their time, Friday Night Lights can make its registration for the program accessible to anyone interested in participating.
As the club has continued to grow, The Cobras have also left their mark at the next level. Several Immokalee teams have earned their way to showcase their abilities beyond the state level with appearances at TWO (2) Southern Regional Presidents Cup events and at ONE (1) USYS National Presidents Cup Championship, where they placed 2nd in the country, in recent years.
Thank you, Soccer Pit players & families, the Immokalee community, and Club President Armando "Manny" Touron, for helping to foster a love for soccer and grow the game here in Florida.
