In Loving Memory of Rebecca McLaren

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Rebecca “Becky” McLaren, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. Becky left a lasting impact on everyone she met. She dedicated more than two decades of her life to the Florida Youth Soccer Association (FYSA), serving as not just a board member, but also a leader, a mentor, and a friend to so many people across the youth soccer community. Her passion for the game and commitment to the players, coaches, referees, and parents who make youth soccer possible will never be forgotten.
However, Becky’s impact stretched far beyond Florida. She served over a decade on the U.S. Youth Soccer Southern Regional Committee and was a trusted member of the U.S. Youth Soccer National Risk Management Committee. Her guidance and expertise shaped the game at every level, always with the end goal of creating safe, positive, and meaningful experiences for young athletes.
Becky was much more than her roles and accomplishments — she was family to all of us at FYSA. She led with kindness and gave her time selflessly to ensure the success of those around her. She also lived a life filled with love outside of soccer — as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and as the Foundation Director and a sister in her sorority, Theta Phi Alpha, a National Organization she held near and dear to her heart.
Becky will be remembered for her unwavering service, her warm spirit, and the countless lives she touched through the beautiful game. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy will live on in all of us.
A celebration of life will be held on October 18, 2025, at 2pm, at Harvey Engelhardt Funeral & Cremation Services in Fort Myers, FL (1600 Colonial Blvd, Fort Myers, FL 33907). In lieu of flowers, Becky’s family has asked that donations be made to Cape Coral Soccer, Florida Youth Soccer Association, or Theta Phi Alpha so that her lifelong dedication to the sport and her sorority continues to make an impact for generations to come.
