Florida ODP Travels Abroad: Germany & Austria
Florida Youth Soccer Association’s Olympic Development Program (ODP) recently returned from an unforgettable international tour through Germany and Austria, where players had the opportunity to compete against elite European competition while experiencing the rich history and culture that make soccer the world’s game.
The trip combined training, international friendlies, cultural experiences, and tournament play, giving Florida’s top youth players a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to develop both on and off the field.

The journey began in Munich, where the teams found themselves immersed in one of Germany’s biggest football celebrations. ODP players joined thousands of supporters in Marienplatz as FC Bayern Munich celebrated its 2025-26 Bundesliga title, experiencing firsthand the passion and tradition that surround one of the world’s most successful football clubs.
Beyond the excitement of soccer, players also had the opportunity to reflect on history with a visit to the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site. The experience served as an important reminder of the significance of learning from the past while gaining a deeper appreciation for the culture and history of the countries they were visiting.
On the field, Florida ODP competed against strong international opposition in a series of friendly matches before entering the prestigious Cordial Cup in Austria. The girls opened with an impressive 6-1 victory over FC Wacker München before continuing their success in Austria with a dominant 9-0 win over SC Kirchberg. The boys also found success during the tour, earning a 3-0 victory over SV Kirchbichl after a competitive opening match against TSV 1860 München.

Players also had the opportunity to tour the iconic Allianz Arena, home of FC Bayern Munich, offering a behind-the-scenes look at one of Europe’s most recognizable football stadiums. The visit provided inspiration as the teams prepared for the next stage of their journey.
The highlight of the trip came at the Cordial Cup, one of Europe’s premier international youth tournaments, where Florida ODP competed against some of the continent’s top academies and clubs. The boys faced the FC Bayern Munich Academy in a memorable match that showcased the level of competition available on the international stage. Meanwhile, the girls earned a 1-0 victory over FSV Mainz and battled VfL Wolfsburg to a scoreless draw while continuing to compete against some of Europe’s strongest youth programs.
International experiences like these remain a defining part of the Florida ODP pathway, providing players with opportunities to challenge themselves at the highest levels while broadening their perspective of the global game. As the teams returned home to Florida, they did so with unforgettable memories, renewed confidence, and experiences that will continue to shape them as players and people for years to come.
