” Mark Godwin – Associate Director of Coaching

In 2021, Florida Youth Soccer Association Coaching Education Department emphasized a specific growth area in our Spanish Speaking Coaching Educators as we only had one back then. Now, in 2024, we can boast that we have 5 who can conduct our Grassroots Coaching Courses in Spanish as well as assist within the D and C Coaching License Levels since we have so many coaches whose first language is Spanish attending those courses. Over the last couple of years, we have been able to offer 8 different grassroots courses in Spanish, and we look to provide more in the future as well as assist coaches within the D and C level by being able to have our coach educators translate where needed. It helps bring our programming to a whole new level!

“It was an area of coaching education we had to improve on. Florida is hugely diverse in soccer coaching, and we emphasize meeting the needs of those in front of us. We had to do better in this area and grow and develop our coaches with the U.S. Soccer Methodology, and we can now reach out to many more because of this initiative. We have to keep a Growth Mindset when it comes to coaching education, and we are certainly living that at Florida Youth Soccer Association”, Mark Godwin, FYSA Associate Director of Coaching.
