FYSA Launches Empowerment Event for Young Female Athletes in Region D
This Saturday from 2-5 p.m., Northside, FYSA, will host an exciting new event designed to empower young female soccer players. The event will feature guest speaker Kirstin Britt, a two-time national champion from Florida State University. Britt will share her experiences on and off the field and answer questions from the girls in attendance, who range in age from 8 to 19.
The event is the first of its kind, serving as a pilot program for Region D. It offers a holistic approach to soccer development, with the girls rotating through four rooms focused on critical aspects of the game: nutrition, strength and conditioning, mental health, and injury prevention.
The program will culminate on the field, where an all-female coaching staff from across the region will lead the participants in various soccer drills.

“This event isn’t just about soccer. It’s about giving these girls the tools they need to succeed in every aspect of their lives,” said Melissa Alford, one of the organizers and the FYSA Region D East Commissioner. “We hope to expand this program to other regions after seeing the incredible response here.”
With over 100 girls signed up from Pensacola to Lake City, the event marks a promising start for a program to inspire the next generation of female athletes.
