Sean Acosta Elected Region D Commissioner West on FYSA’s Board of Directors
Florida Youth Soccer Association (FYSA) is proud to announce that Sean Acosta has been elected as the Region D Commissioner West during a special election held on December 16, 2024. Sean brings a wealth of experience, both as a player and coach, to his new leadership role within FYSA.
A Navarre native, Sean’s soccer journey began in the Gulf Coast area, where he played select soccer for clubs like Bayside, Destin Wave, and Pensacola Revolution. He was a standout athlete at Navarre High School, serving as the leading goal scorer for four years and helping lead the team to its first state playoff victory in school history. Sean’s accomplishments earned him recognition on the All-Area Boys Soccer Team and the title of Varsity MVP in 2003.
After high school and the events of 9/11, Sean joined the U.S. Army, where he continued his passion for soccer as a four-year starter on the Fort Bragg post team, winning three Commanders’ Cups.
Sean’s coaching career spans over eight years, covering recreational U8 teams to competitive U17 select programs. While coaching in North Carolina, he dedicated himself to supporting economically disadvantaged Latino communities, using innovative approaches like fundraising and sponsorships to ensure access to competitive soccer. His primary goal was to use the sport as a platform to create opportunities for young athletes, including pathways to college scholarships and higher-level playing experiences.
Currently serving as Assistant Director of Coaching at Navarre United Futbol Club, Sean’s commitment to youth soccer development and his leadership experience will undoubtedly benefit the Region D community.
FYSA congratulates Sean on his election and looks forward to the positive impact he will bring to the organization in his new role.
