FLORIDA STATE CUP & PRESIDENTS CUP CHAMPIONS CROWNED
Monday, May 18, 2026 (Auburndale, FL) – Forida’s top youth soccer teams took center stage this past weekend as the Florida State Cup and Florida Presidents Cup concluded with championship matches at Lake Myrtle Sports Complex. Competing across the 13U-18U/19U age groups, teams battled for state titles and the opportunity to advance to the next stage of their respective competitions.
Semifinal matches kicked off on Saturday, with champions crowned on Sunday in front of thousands of players, coaches, referees, and family members from across the state. Following the recent consolidation of State Cup and Presidents Cup playdates, the weekend marked the largest State Championship event attendance in Florida Youth Soccer history.
“Championship weekend produces incredible soccer moments for our competing teams and their families,” said FYSA Executive Director, Ryan Foley. “The passion and talent displayed throughout our Cups competitions reflects the incredible work being done by clubs, coaches, players, and families across our state.”

First-Time Open Cup Competitions
The conclusion of the Spring Cups season also marked a historic milestone for Florida Youth Soccer. For the first time, teams affiliated with any U.S. Soccer-sanctioned governing body were eligible to compete in the Florida State Cup, Presidents Cup, and Commissioners Cup competitions.

Referee Mentorship Opportunity
The weekend also showcased many of Florida’s top youth soccer officials, selected to referee semifinal and championship matches. Florida State Referees coordinated educational field sessions, post-game evaluations, and on-site mentorship from US Soccer Referee Coaches to support referee development and elevate the standard of officiating throughout the event.

State Cups as a Talent ID Event

In another first-of-its-kind initiative, the 16U–19U Spring State Cup group play also served as an integrated college showcase event. More than 45 colleges and universities attended, with approximately 200 players identified and contacted by coaches in attendance.
The model combines meaningful State Cup competition with college recruiting opportunities, allowing players to be evaluated in high-level matches without adding additional travel or scheduling conflicts to an already crowded youth soccer calendar.
Regional and National Advancement
For the first-time, Champions from the Florida State Cup will advance directly to the national stage of the competition in July, while Presidents Cup champions will continue their postseason journey at the US Youth Soccer Southeast National Presidents Cup Qualifier later in June.
“Congratulations to every team that competed this weekend and earned the opportunity to represent Florida at the next level,” said FYSA President, Daragh Cullen. “The level of competition continues to rise each year, and it’s exciting to see so many players creating lifelong memories while pursuing their goals on the field. We look forward to cheering on our Florida teams as they continue their postseason journeys.”

Congratulations to all teams that competed in this prestigious event. FYSA commends the dedication and efforts of the players, coaches, referees, and families who helped make the weekend a success!
