Girls in Soccer Kicks Off with Events in Tallahassee and Largo
Girls in Soccer is back for another year of developing not only athletes, but confident, empowered young women.
Girls in Soccer is a traveling recreational program that moves throughout the state of Florida to provide female athletes with a space curated just for them. Alongside on-field training and development, participants take part in sessions focused specifically on the unique needs of young female athletes, including mental health and wellness, strength and conditioning, nutrition, confidence, leadership, and more.
The 2026/2027 season kicked off with two successful events in Largo and Tallahassee, bringing together more than 100 girls for two days of learning, development and fun.
The first stop in Largo welcomed 30 participants. Girls rotated through a series of educational sessions where they had the opportunity to learn more about strength and conditioning, nutrition, social media safety, injury prevention and sports psychology, gaining valuable knowledge they can carry with them both on and off the field.
Following the educational sessions, participants headed outside for on-field activities. Younger players took part in skill-building games while older participants put their skills to the test in small-sided games. The Tampa Bay Rowdies also joined in on the excitement, offering participants and their families a special ticket opportunity to attend the club’s home game that evening.
Girls in Soccer continued its momentum in Tallahassee, where 85 girls came out to participate in the program. Similar to the Largo event, participants rotated through educational sessions before heading onto the field for games and activities designed to encourage development, teamwork and confidence.
The day included an exciting opportunity to connect with collegiate soccer as participants traveled to Florida State University (FSU). There, the girls were invited onto the field to welcome the FSU Women’s Soccer team as they prepared to take the field for their game, giving participants a special behind-the-scenes experience and the chance to celebrate the next level of women’s soccer.
Both events provided an exciting start to another Girls in Soccer season, creating opportunities for girls across Florida to learn, connect and grow in an environment built specifically for them.
Girls in Soccer will continue its statewide tour with its next stop in Hollywood on December 5. As the program travels to more communities, it will continue its mission of empowering the next generation of female athletes through education, development and a shared love of the game.
