FYSA and Tampa Bay Rowdies Host Winter Wonderland TOPSoccer Festival

FYSA and Tampa Bay Rowdies Host Winter Wonderland TOPSoccer Festival

ST. PETERSBURG, FL. — On December 7, 2025 Florida Youth Soccer Association (FYSA), in partnership with the Tampa Bay Rowdies, proudly hosted a Winter Wonderland–themed TOPSoccer Festival at Al Lang Stadium, welcoming athletes of all abilities for a joyful and inclusive day on the field.

An Inclusive Day on the Pitch

The free festival brought together dozens of athletes with physical and intellectual disabilities, ranging in age from as young as four to adults in their fifties. Participants enjoyed holiday-inspired soccer activities and games designed to meet players where they are, creating a fun, safe, and supportive experience for everyone involved.

Each athlete was paired with a dedicated one-on-one volunteer “buddy,” who provided encouragement, guidance, and individualized support throughout the event. The buddy system remains a cornerstone of FYSA’s TOPSoccer program, helping athletes build confidence, develop skills, and experience the joy of the game.

A Strong Partnership Supporting Inclusive Soccer

This event marked the fifth consecutive year FYSA and the Tampa Bay Rowdies have partnered to host a TOPSoccer festival. The continued collaboration has played a key role in expanding and strengthening inclusive soccer opportunities across the state of Florida.

“Events like this are what TOPSoccer is all about — creating opportunities for athletes of all abilities to experience the joy of the game,” said Jennifer DiTillio, FYSA TOPSoccer Chair. “Our partnership with the Tampa Bay Rowdies has allowed us to grow this festival year after year and make a lasting impact on families in our community.”

About TOPSoccer

TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for Soccer) is a community-based program designed to provide children and adults with physical and intellectual disabilities the opportunity to play soccer in a safe, fun, and supportive environment. Through trained coaches, volunteers, and one-on-one buddy support, TOPSoccer focuses on player development, confidence building, and creating meaningful connections through the game of soccer.

FYSA proudly supports TOPSoccer programs across Florida, working with local clubs and partners to ensure soccer remains accessible and welcoming for players of all abilities.

Looking Ahead

FYSA and the Tampa Bay Rowdies will continue their shared commitment to inclusive soccer by hosting another TOPSoccer event, “Soccer Around the World”. The event will take place on February 1, 2026, at the Tampa Bay Rowdies Training Facility in Tampa, offering even more athletes the opportunity to participate, connect, and play.
