Florida Youth Soccer Association and Protential Foundation Launch Partnership to Expand Soccer Access and Opportunity in Underserved Communities

Florida Youth Soccer Association (FYSA) is proud to announce a new partnership with the Protential Foundation aimed at expanding access to the game of soccer and creating meaningful opportunities for youth in underserved communities across Florida.
Together, FYSA and Protential will work toward three core goals:
- Increase Access – Breaking down financial and structural barriers so more children in underserved communities have the chance to play.
- Build Pathway Opportunities – Supporting under-resourced youth and their families progress from recreational soccer into competitive play, while also opening doors to refereeing , coaching and leadership opportunities.
- Strengthen Club & Community Collaboration – Partnering with schools, community organizations and cross sector partners to create sustainable impact.
Initial initiatives under the partnership include:
- Establishing a new FYSA Community Impact Committee working with member clubs to guide growth in underserved communities.
- Expanding Protential’s Passport to Prosperity after-school program, which integrates soccer, academics and character development.
- Launching a Youth Leadership Academy that empowers under resourced high school players to earn coaching and referee certifications while mentoring younger players.
“At FYSA, we believe every child deserves the chance to experience the joy and growth that soccer brings, regardless of their background or circumstances. We are working to break down barriers, open pathways, and create a lasting impact in communities that need it most.”
— Daragh Cullen, President, Florida Youth Soccer Association
“Soccer is more than a game. It is a bridge to brighter futures. With FYSA, we aim to create opportunities for children in underserved communities to play, grow, and develop into the next generation of leaders—on and off the field.”
— Tony Williams, President & Founder, Protential Foundation
By combining FYSA’s statewide network with Protential’s proven community-driven programs, this partnership will provide a powerful model for clubs, coaches, and families committed to making soccer a true game-changer for under-resourced youth.
