Celebrating the Life of Barbara Newton

It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Barbara “Barb” Newton, an esteemed member of the Florida Youth Soccer Association (FYSA) Hall of Fame and a devoted volunteer whose impact on Florida soccer will never be forgotten.
Barb dedicated countless years to growing the game and enriching the lives of young players across our state. A proud graduate of the University of South Florida, Barb was a passionate supporter of USF’s women’s basketball team and a lifelong educator. She spent much of her career teaching, including dedicating time to educating those within the prison system.
Yet, of all her many accomplishments, Barb often said her greatest joy came from being a grandmother. She will be remembered for her warm heart, sharp wit, and unwavering devotion to the people and causes she loved. Through her work and her role as a mother, grandmother, and friend, Barb touched countless lives and left an enduring legacy of kindness and service.
More than her remarkable achievements, Barb was family to all of us at FYSA. Her legacy will live on in the players, coaches, and communities she inspired. She will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, Barb’s family has requested any donations be made to the TOPSoccer program.
A service to honor Barb’s life will be held on Friday, October 10th at 11:00 a.m. at Tampa Cremation and Burial Service (8109 Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd, Tampa, 33619). All are welcome.
The family will also host a Celebration of Life following the service at Wulfaven Brewing Company (10828 Perez Dr., Tampa, 33618) beginning at 2:00 p.m.
